The National Park Service presented a study of light and sound pollution across the U.S. at the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s 2015 Annual Meeting.

The study compiled measurements of light and sound levels at nighttime in parks around the country, and generalized them on a model map. This data illustrated how much the natural nighttime is impacted by human activity.

Another presentation at AAAS’s meeting sought to explore how these sensory disruptions affect humans and animals, and discuss what to do to better understand and preserve natural sensory environments.
