In 2025, a trend began to start on social media. It was called “ You need to nerd out.” The trend followed people as they showed themselves and then showed their hobbies and interests, things that would normally be considered ‘nerdy’ and turned it into an individual style. People showed things that they liked, such as music, books, movies, and art. It brought back individualism and made people remember that it was okay to be nerdy. This is a true testament to our world today.
How sad it is that everyone has conformed to a type of “normal”. Architecture today is a great example of this. There is no art in architecture anymore; it all looks the same. No color and no thought goes into it anymore. The Cologne Cathedral in Germany, for example, took 632 years to build. That culture is now lost. All the houses a

re cookie-cutter; “modern” art is a banana taped to a canvas, and everyone has their own definition of what art should be. There is no deliberate beauty anywhere. There is no difference in the way we all have hobbies and interests, but in order not to seem weird and quirky, we hide them away. No! Tell people those random facts you know about Star Wars, show people your collection of unique buttons, and cover your room with all your favorite colors and movie posters. Don’t hide yourself away to conform to a stark and boring society. God made us different for a reason; do not let that go to waste.
How beautiful it is that we all are unique. We were all made in the image and likeness of God, and yet we are all our own separate individuals with our own passions, dreams, and ambitions. Chase those dreams, no matter the cost, because God gave them to you for a reason. Embrace those passions because that is what differentiates us from the animals. Those ambitions are what keep you going; stay motivated and never give up. Having fun is so underrated now, you can still be “hip” and “cool” without losing your personality and becoming like everyone else. It’s fun to wear different colored socks, it’s awesome to braid your hair in funky ways, and it’s incredible to see people show that they care.
Be unique. Be different. Be yourself. But most importantly remember that it is okay to be a little weird, just make sure to never lose your nerdiness, it is your spark.
