On December 19th, 2016, the Electoral College came together to vote for America’s next president. On January 6th, 2017, Congress tallied the Electoral votes. Secretary Hillary Clinton won 232 Electoral votes; her opponent Mr. Donald J. Trump won with 306 Electoral votes. The Democratic party won 20 out of the 50 states; the Republican party won the remainder, 30 states.

Though Mr. Trump was the winner of the Electoral vote, his opponent Secretary Clinton was the winner of the popular vote, with about 62.5 million votes to Mr. Trump’s 61.2 million.

Inauguration Day for Mr. Donald’s presidency is January 20th, 2017.
