Artificial Intelligence is constantly being developed and refined; some even have the hopes of it replacing human activities or people altogether. However, the people creating AI fail to consider the qualities of humans given to us by God.

Our Lord has given us an intellect and a will, which is something Artificial Intelligence will never acquire. We are Christ’s highest creatures on Earth, and all power comes from Him who created all things. Therefore, it would be impossible for humans to create something higher than itself, as the natural order prevents us from doing this.

Furthermore, the information AI has is programmed into it by humans. Any “knowledge” it has is not true knowledge, for it cannot think for itself. It does not have the ability to be more smart or capable than humans, as it lacks the fundamental components that makes us different than the rest of the beings on Earth: reason, intellect, and will.

Artificial Intelligence might appear to be able to reason or provide nuance, but this is an allusion as AI does not have a brain. Our immortal soul and reason are what differentiates ourselves from all other living things.

From all of this, one can determine that it will be impossible for Artificial Intelligence to become something higher than the human beings that created it. We have a soul, dignity, reason and will that is irreplaceable as it is created and given to us by God.
