Charlie Kirk, a well known right wing conservative and debater, was shot and killed on September 10th. With his recent death comes many emotions from millions of people throughout the world. Charlie Kirk left such a huge impact on this generation and encouraged people of all ages! He taught us all that we need to have courage in our Faith and courage to speak the truth! Now people are coming together and holding prayer memorials all throughout the world for Charlie Kirk!
Many of these prayer memorials have been hosted by either small groups or just a couple of people that cared deeply about Charlie Kirk and what he did for our country, and they wanted to honor that memory. There have been memorials all throughout America and even in different places throughout the world to pray for him and his family! A prayer memorial traditionally consists of saying a few picked prayers, reading some scripture, honoring the memory, lighting candles, singing a chosen song for the occasion, and just being there in that moment to pray for and think about that person and what they achieved with their life.
My family and I attended a prayer memorial in Flushing, Michigan recently. It was hosted by two young women, who with the help of friends, set up the memorial. They had a picture of Charlie Kirk along with flags, candles, Christian music, passages from the Bible, prayers, the Pledge of Allegiance, very nice tribute talks about Charlie, and “God Bless the USA” was sung by the entire crowd at the end. It was beautiful to see how many people came to this one evening!
All throughout the world people are holding these types of memorials for Charlie Kirk! It shows how many people he touched and how many lives have changed because of him! Although I’m sure many of these people never had the opportunity to meet Charlie, they all knew who he was and what he did! One man who loved God and America so deeply that he devoted his life to trying to change the future! Trying to bring our Country back to God where we need to be. He wasn’t afraid to speak the truth or to stand up with courage for his faith, in fact he died because of his beliefs and because he spoke the truth. His life was threatened multiple times, people would show up to his debates with hate shirts, and signs, and would say hateful things against him, but this never stopped Charlie from doing his mission! Don’t ever be afraid to practice your faith or speak up when something is wrong. Charlie Kirk wasn’t and he showed people that being different in this world is okay, that standing up for the faith is important and that speaking the truth is nothing to be afraid of.
Unfortunately there are still many people in this world who are filled with hate, anger, and rage, that they think violence will solve all their problems. But they are wrong, violence solves nothing, it will only make things worse. I know that many people right now are feeling hate or anger towards the killer of Charlie Kirk, returning hate for hate? Is that what Jesus taught us? No! Jesus taught us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us! Isn’t that what Charlie Kirk would have done? Would he have hated someone because they had hate for him? No he would not have, he talked many times about forgiving people and not having hate and anger towards them. Charlie Kirk did not return hate with hate and he inspired people to love their enemies and forgive those who hurt them.
Charlie Kirk will be greatly missed by many throughout the whole world, but his memory and the things that he taught us will remain with us all! It is up to everyone, not just those in America but people throughout the world, to continue the fight that Charlie fought for! The fight for our faith and for our country! So thank you to Charlie Kirk for everything that you stood up for and for everything that you fought for!
