Another Inside Look at the Natural Science Project!

The MODG Natural Science Project is a fun way to learn about animals!

For my project I taught my sister’s guinea pigs to associate certain music with a carrot. Every morning, towards the beginning of the project, I played the music before giving them the carrot. Near the end of the project, I did this at different times during the day. The guinea pigs usually looked for the carrot when they heard the music.

Here’s what a student named Sloane (grade 10) said about her project:

“For my project, I’m doing a series of experiments based on the question: can fish learn tricks? I’m teaching my goldfish Birdie through positive reinforcement to see if he can learn to do a series of tricks such as swimming through a hoop, swimming through a tunnel, doing the limbo and pushing a ball into a soccer goal. Surprisingly Birdie is pretty smart; he’s already learned to associate his feeding wand with food and will follow it around his tank and through a hoop.”
